Vice-President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine Andriy Deryzemlya announced that he had joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“I submitted the documents at the beginning of the summer, but considering the specifics of the unit where I serve, and my armor from the city council, everything took a long time. I had to write a waiver of armor for mobilization,” said Deryzemlya.
44-year-old Deryzemlya took personal podiums at the Cup stages nine times of the world (one gold in Antholka 2002-03). He also has three relay podiums to his credit.
Deryzemlya is a two-time European champion and a two-time medalist of the world championships.
Recall that on February 24, Russian President Putin made an urgent statement about conducting a special military operation on territory of Ukraine, starting a large-scale invasion of Ukrainian cities.
