Leonid Yevtushenko, one of the country's best handball coaches, died in Kyiv at the age of 77, as reported by the Handball Federation of Ukraine.

Under the guidance of a specialist, the women's national team of Ukraine won silver at the 2000 European Championship – this is the only medal of the women's team in the entire history of performances at the continental championships.

Also, Yevtushenko led the junior national team of Ukraine to gold in Euro-1994 and silver in Euro-1996. In addition, the coach led Zaporizhzhia “Motor”, which became the winner of the 2001 Cup of Cups.

In recent years, Leonid Yevtushenko worked as a coach of women's teams at the Brovary Higher School of Physical Education.
