The Disciplinary Commission of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) considered and rejected the appeal to remove the national teams of Russia and Belarus from the competition.

According to Inside the Games, the aggressor country and its partner wanted to get the indefinite suspension of the national teams overturned.

The IIHF concluded that the decision to suspend was dictated by security policy, and was not solely a sanction against the backdrop of a military invasion to Ukraine.

The Commission confirmed the correctness of the decision to withdraw the 2023 Men's World Championship and the 2023 Junior World Cup from Russia, as well as not to appoint officials from the Russian Federation to official competitions and not to invite them to IIHF committee meetings.
