The bulk carrier IKARIA ANGEL left the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk with 30,000 tons of wheat on board. The ship was chartered by the UN World Food Program and is headed to Ethiopia, which is on the verge of a food disaster, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure reports.

In general, during the implementation of the initiative on the safe transportation of agricultural products, 23 ships already left Ukrainian ports for African countries. 0.64 million tons of food are on board. Currently, 159 vessels with 3.6 million tons of agricultural products left Ukrainian ports.

“We sent 3 ships with more than 90 thousand tons of wheat for the people of Ethiopia and Yemen. The plan is to export another 190,000 tons, which are currently being purchased by partners from the UN,” detailed the head of the department Oleksandr Kubrakov.
