American Airlines has decided to purchase 20 Boom Supersonic aircraft with the possibility of additional purchase of 40 more such vessels in the future. This is already the second American airline that decided to bet on supersonic flights, reports The Verge.

Suma, in which the purchase of aircraft will cost, is not disclosed. At the same time, it is known that the deposit for 20 planes is non-refundable. However, the deal is still subject to change depending on safety testing results and Boom's ability to deliver on its promises.
If all goes well, deliveries of the supersonic aircraft are expected to take place by 2025, and flying they will start in 2026. The first passengers on them will be able to take off by 2029.
The company claims that the journey from New York to London, which usually takes seven hours, will be made by its planes in 3.5. And the journey from Sydney to Los Angeles, which normally takes 15 hours, will take six hours and 45 minutes.
Boom claims that ticket prices will start at $5,000,000 one way. American airlines do not disclose the estimated cost.
