As Natalia Vovk, a spokeswoman for the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, told ZN.UA, Anatasia Guliy was most impressed by the Moms project, which collected portraits of mothers who lost the most precious thing during the Ukrainian war for their freedom – their sons. She read a poem on behalf of the deceased defender of Ukraine to her mother and said that it would be right if he hung next to the photos presented in the project.

Here is this poignant poem >

Mom, mom, I'm killed! – in Irpen,

In the battle under enemy fire.

And so forgive me, forgive me,

What I can not come.

I would plant potatoes for you,

And a good raspberry in the garden,

I would decorate the house with you

For Easter. But I can't anymore.

Sorry, I didn't have time to bring it home

I look like a girl like you,

To have small grandchildren.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but I can't anymore.

Here in the mass grave are all yours,

I'm lying on the edge, on guard.

If it works out, mom, come,

Because I can't go to you anymore…

The author of the poem is a Ukrainian poet, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Vasyl Holovetsky.
