The daily mortality in China from the coronavirus can be approximately 9,000 people. Reuters writes about this with reference to the British analytical company Airfinity.

According to the organization's estimates, since December 1, the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country has reached 100,000, and 18.6 million people have been infected. However, Chinese authorities report only a few thousand cases of infection per day. And since December 7, the authorities have officially reported only 10 deaths from coronavirus infection.

However, Airfinity analysts call completely different numbers. In addition, they assume that the peak of deaths will occur on January 23 and will be about 25 thousand people per day, and the total number of deaths from December will reach 584 thousand people at that time.

Recall that China has maintained a low rate of morbidity with the help of a “zero COVID” strategy, which aims to eradicate transmission virus by isolating each case. This sparked protests as people saw the controls as too extreme and counterproductive.

The ruling party announced the changes on November 11, which it said were aimed at reducing disruptions following a downturn in economic activity. Others the changes were announced following proteststhat broke out on November 25 in Shanghai and other cities. The government has stopped reporting the nationwide number of cases, but statements from some cities indicate that at least tens and possibly hundreds of millions of people have been infected since early October.

China counts in its official only deaths from pneumonia or respiratory failure are included in the COVID-19 data, a health official said last week. This rules out many deaths that other countries have attributed to COVID-19.
