The return of the gas turbine engine to the starting station of Nord Stream is impossible due to the actions of Siemens under the current anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by the Russian monopolist Gazprom.

“The sanctions regimes of Canada, the EU, Great Britain and the non-compliance of the existing situation with the current contractual obligations on the part of Siemens make the supply of the engine to the Portova plant impossible”, – it is said in the company's statement.

According to Gazprom executives, since the turbine was delivered not directly to the Russian Federation, but to Germany, this is a violation of the transportation route. So now, in order to accept the repaired turbine, the company must receive “guarantees of the non-application of sanctions not only from Canada, but also from the EU and Great Britain.” the time of overhaul of other engines, both in connection with the mileage between repairs, and in connection with breakdowns.”
