The SBI employees informed the former first deputy head of the State Agency of Ukraine for the Management of the Exclusion Zone of the suspicion of official negligence, namely cutting forest in the zone, which caused damage to the state in the amount of 15.5 million hryvnias.

According to the investigation, the DAZV expositor illegally signed logging tickets for sanitary felling to the chief forester and deputy director of the State Specialized Enterprise “Northern Pushcha”.

This made it possible in 2020 to illegally cut down almost 3,000 trees on the territory of the Korogodskyi and Dytyatkivskyi forestry. At the same time, felling took place without a mandatory environmental impact assessment report from the Ministry of Environment.

“As a result of illegal logging, the state suffered losses in the amount of 15.5 million hryvnias,” the SBI said and informed that the investigators reported the suspicion to the former senior official of the State Agency of Ukraine for the Management of the Exclusion Zone in the office negligence that caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and to the chief forester/deputy director of the “Northern Pushcha” DSP in illegal felling of a forest that caused serious consequences (Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Sanctions of the articles include imprisonment for up to 7 years.
