    Winter nostalgia. Paper, cardboard

    Vasyl Artyushenko, ZN.UA

Kyivans have a strange nostalgia: they miss their city while staying in it. Kyivans miss the city they have never seen, the way it was 20, 100, 300 years before they were born. In fact, this is a fictional Kyiv – everyone has their own. And we look for his traces in the present – in the outlines of old houses and temples, the texture of ancient walls and the ancient and unchanged Kyiv landscape. And found in works of art. What connects the bright longing for the past with prosaic paper and cardboard? First of all, these materials are nostalgia incarnate. They are fragile, easily damaged by light, so works on paper can be shown to the audience only once every few years.
