The Iranian-made Kowsar and Hodhod satellites should be launched into orbit at a height of 500 km from the Earth's surface already this year. The launch vehicle can be provided by Russia, which receives Western technology thanks to Iran. The contract for the construction and launch of two satellites has already been concluded and signed, reports Xinhua.

Kowsar and Hodhod are intended to monitor the surface of the Earth. Kowsar has a resolution of 3.5 meters per pixel and can be used for agricultural purposes, surveying and demarcation. The service life of a satellite in orbit is two years. The Hodhod satellite is intended for use in agriculture, transportation and crisis management.
