Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, together with the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, informed the former prosecutor of the General Prosecutor's Office of the suspicion of illegal possession of eight kilograms of gold bars and official forgery of documents.

During during the pre-trial investigation, NABU detectives found that at the end of 2019 – the beginning of 2020, the prosecutor of one of the local prosecutor's offices of Kyiv, on the basis of a business trip order, exercised powers in criminal proceedings as part of a group of prosecutors of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine. Then he conducted a search in the bank's individual safe and decided to appropriate gold bars with a total value of over UAH 11.8 million, which were seized during the search in the case he was investigating.

To create the appearance of legality of his actions, the prosecutor forged procedural documents in criminal proceedings regarding the origin of the property and subsequently, having access to it, illegally took possession of the gold.

On August 15, 2022, the ex-prosecutor, who is currently practicing law, was served with a notice of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 191 and Part 1 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation is ongoing.
