Fighters are ready to take responsibility for the security of NATO's eastern flank, said acting Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.

As we previously reported, he also raised issues of security in the region and military support of Ukraine, and this is how he assessed the transfer of Patriot systems:

“Placing German Patriot launchers in Ukraine is beneficial for the security of the southeastern part of our country; because anti-missile security in the west of Ukraine also means security in the east of Poland. (…) Everything depends on the reaction time. Patriot systems, which are located in the east of Poland, will be able to shoot down missiles that cross the border with Poland. And this tragic incident, which happened on November 15, happened just a few kilometers from the Ukrainian border. This missile flew through the territory of Poland in a few tens of seconds.

This time is not enough to successfully shoot it down. Dropping such a missile over the territory of Ukraine would mean Poland entering the war, and we don't want that. The deployment of Patriot systems in western Ukraine increases the security of both western Ukraine and Poland.”
