Old New Year: beautiful holiday sows” />

On the night of January 13-14, Ukraine celebrates the Old New Year, and the evening before the holiday is popularly called Schedrym. On the morning of January 14, there is a tradition – men and boys go from house to house singing sowers. In these ritual songs, they wish the hosts a bountiful harvest, well-being and health.

Texts of sowers

I sow, I sow, I sow,

Happy New Year!

I wish you happiness , it's okay,

So that you don't have any trouble!

No wind in the wind,

No quarrels in your house!

So that the porridge is all ready

The children are all healthy!

So that you can enjoy them,

And I have half a sack of money!

***

I woke up early,

I already ran around the house a lot.

I sprinkle everywhere and sow,

Because I know how to do it .

May joy come from every grain

For the family,

And from every grain

May prosperity come to the house!

May the owners be healthy

Sons and daughters – in renewal!

For good luck to carry medicine,

And the whole year was happy!

***< /p>

We sow, weed, we sow,

Happy New Year –

Happiness, health,

For the New Year !

So that you have a better birth than last year,

Hemp under the ceiling,

And flax up to the knee,

So that you, masters,

My head didn't hurt!

***

Rye, rye from the palm,

On the dolly, on the shelter,< /p>

I sow seeds in your house –

Be strong and rich!

So that everything will come true this year –

With new happiness, Happy New Year!

***

I sow, I sow, I sow,

Happy New Year!

May you, Lord,
