Ombudsmen of Ukraine and Russia plan to meet and discuss the release of civilians from captivity

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for human rights, Dmytro Lubinets, plans to meet with the Russian ombudsman Tetyana Moskalkova in January of this year and discuss with her the issue of release from enemy capture civilians of our state. Lubinets announced this on the air of the telethon.

According to him, Ukraine is currently paying special attention to the return home of civilians, but the Russian side creates problems in this process.

“I would like to emphasize that the Ukrainian state does not stop trying to return, including civilians. No the problem is with us, the problem is in the Russian Federation, because the Russian Federation now wants a separate platform for civilians. We will agree on this,” the Ukrainian Ombudsman said.

This issue, in particular, will be a separate topic of the meeting with Moskalkova. Lubinets noted that our state has already worked out many options regarding the captured civilians, but it is not a fact that Russia will agree to them.

“I would not like to rush ahead, because I understand that society is not interested in the process, society wants to get a result. But this month we will have a meeting with Moskalkova, where we will separately discuss the issue of the release of civilians,” said the Verkhovna Rada commissioner for human rights.
