If a citizen of Ukraine has reached retirement age, has at least 29 years of service and an assigned pension for years of service, but wishes to receive a larger amount of payments, he should contact the territorial department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine for the appointment of an old-age pension.
According to the lawyer, when applying to the PFU with a corresponding application a pensioner may have to deal with an incorrect calculation of the age pension.
PFU employees may incorrectly calculate the age pension if one of the pension indicators is incorrectly used in the calculations – the average salary in Ukraine, from which insurance contributions were paid, for three calendar years preceding the year of application for the appropriate payments.
Such an average salary is determined by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, so it does not depend on the amount of salary the pensioner received at work.
