Search for criminal assets: the global intelligence community recognized the contribution of the State Financial Monitoring

State Financial Monitoring, as a unit of the Financial Intelligence Service of Ukraine (FIU of Ukraine), is an active member of the global intelligence society – the Egmont Group of FIU.

“The Egmont Group is a professional network for increasing the efficiency of exchange of information and experience between FIUs of the global community, which includes FIUs of 167 jurisdictions. The Egmont group provides an opportunity for the safe exchange of financial intelligence with the aim of combating money laundering, terrorist financing and related predicate crimes,” the State Financial Monitoring Service emphasizes. /p>

  • Sent the Egmont Group information on examples of cases related to the concealment of beneficial ownership of assets or operations, cross-border VC networks, human trafficking, anti-corruption, large-scale VC schemes;
  • < li>Took part as a member of the project team in four projects of the Egmont Group, in two of which he was a co-leader.

Ukrainian financial intelligence works on the following topics:

  • research serious tax crimes;
  • cybercrime and FinTech;
  • cooperation with customs authorities;
  • fighting corruption.

“The last of the completed projects of the Egmont Group on the eve of full-scale armed aggression – a war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, in which the FIU of Ukraine acted as one of the leaders, was the project “Return of assets – the role of the FIU”, – added in the financial intelligence.

For according to the information of the department, in previous years, State Financial Monitoring became one of the most active FIUs among the members of the Egmont Group and took the 2nd place in the region in terms of activity and contributions to the activities of the Egmont Group.

The head of the Egmont Group recognized the contribution of the FIU of Ukraine to the activities of the group and presented the appropriate award.

“In operational activities, one of the priority areas of activity of the FIU of Ukraine is the counteraction and prevention of financial operations for money laundering, financing of terrorism and financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, related to subjects of the Russian Federation , their collaborators, etc.”, – reacted to the award from the State Monitoring Service.
