Supporting veterans is a priority for Ukraine, so the Cabinet of Ministers is developing grant programs specifically for this category of Ukrainians. This was announced by the First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko.

According to her, six grant programs have already been launched, thanks to which it is possible to attract funds for the creation and development of one's own business. In addition, a mortgage program will be launched in October that will help you buy your own home.

“It is a big challenge for Ukraine to integrate the veteran movement into economic life. Before the full-scale invasion, we had about 500 thousand participants in the Ukrainian-Russian war, now their number will increase and may reach 2 million. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy clearly outlined the tasks facing the Government and the Ministry of Economy. This is the rehabilitation of veterans, providing them with social housing, decent working conditions and giving them the opportunity to start their own business. Thus, we will have a large veteran recovery army whose contribution to the economy can be one of the points of growth. We are already working on completing these tasks – and there are results,” Svyridenko emphasized.

She clarified that under the mortgage program, preferential conditions provide for a loan at 3% for 20 years with an initial payment of 20%. For those who are planning their own business, there is the “Your Own Business” program – micro-grants of up to UAH 250,000. You can open your own cafe, hair salon, service station and other small business.

“Entrance to the program is maximally digitized, the algorithm for submitting documents is simple and clear. According to this program, there are the first results – the state transferred UAH 52.7 million to the accounts of recipients of micro-grants,” she said.

“Separate programs in the field of agriculture are gardening and the creation of greenhouses. The state finances 70% of all expenses of the first thousand applicants. There is a startup support program for IT veterans. It is especially important to develop military-tech technologies to strengthen defense capabilities and security. The “Start in IT” program will help you integrate into civic life. The state pays for training in the “information technology” specialty, which is the most in demand on the labor market today,” said Yuliya Svyridenko.

She emphasized that there should be barrier-free conditions for integration in the labor market for veterans who do not have business skills.

“State employment centers today are changing their approach to working with veterans and becoming more client-oriented. They will take into account all the features of the experience of the participants in the hostilities. It will provide them with a wide range of employment services, provide retraining and high-quality selection of vacancies. In this context, it is important that the parliament passes the draft law 6067 in the second reading. Among other things, it provides for compensating employers for part of the labor costs for employed veterans who have been registered as unemployed for more than 6 months,” the First Deputy Prime Minister reported.
