The Armed Forces will be able to start using the Patriot system only closer to the summer - expert

Ukrainian servicemen will be able to start using Patriot air defense systems no earlier than the end of spring 2023. This opinion was voiced by an analyst at the Cato Research Institute, Jordan Cohen, in an interview with Newsweek magazine.

“I believe that delivery and training to work with this system will take many months, and due to limited supplies and costs, I am not sure that they (Patriot complexes, – ed.) will be used, at least successfully, by the end of spring 2023,” the expert said.

In turn, retired US Army General Mark Hertling told CNN that Patriot's scope is very limited.

“These systems can't just be assembled and moved around the battlefield. You deploy them to protect the most strategically important objects, such as a city like Kyiv. If someone thinks that this system will cover the 500-mile border between Ukraine and Russia, he simply does not understand how it works,” Hertling said.
