“The Garden of Divine Songs”: The National Bank put into circulation a commemorative coin dedicated to Grigory Skovoroda

The obverse of the coin, which was issued for the 300th anniversary of the wandering thinker, depicts a symbolic fountain that fills various vessels with water, which are said to be metaphors for man and the human soul.

The National Bank put into circulation the commemorative silver coin “Garden of Divine Songs” with a face value of 20 hryvnias, dedicated to the Ukrainian philosopher-mystic, theologian, poet and teacher Hryhoriy Skovoroda.

On the obverse of the coin, which was issued to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the traveling thinker, who created the baroque collection of metaphysical poems of the same name (published posthumously in 1861 – ed.) depicts a symbolic fountain that fills various vessels with water, as they say, these are metaphors for man and the human soul. On the reverse is the young Skovoroda himself, sitting under a cherry tree. Around him are a number of figures, the inscription “The world caught me and did not catch me” and an open book.

The circulation of the coin is up to 2,500 pieces. Artists Svyatoslav Ivanenko, Volodymyr Atamanchuk, Volodymyr Taran, Oleksandr Kharuk and Serhiy Kharuk worked on the artistic design.
