In Russia, there is an ongoing conflict between Wagner's PMC and the Ministry of Defense. In response to a claim by members of a private military company that they are being “shell starved” because they are not being given ammunition, the Ministry of Defense accused Prigozhin's fighters of “attempts to create a split” in the Russian military group fighting in Ukraine.

In a statement released by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the statements of the Wagnerites were called “exalted” and assured that “volunteers and servicemen assault units” receive “everything they need”, including ammunition.

At the same time, the release of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not mention either Prigozhin's name or the name of his PMC, which is recognized as a terrorist organization.

Instead, they said that such incidents are attempts to “introduce a split” in the work of the Russian group and “play only in favor of the enemy”.

As it was reported, in mid-February, Wagner PMC mercenaries recorded several video appeals in which they asked to allocate ammunition to them, and also called on the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to “supply” them with weapons in time. Yevgeny Prigozhin also stated several times that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not supply ammunition to the Wagner PMC. He has also repeatedly publicly criticized representatives of the Russian command, as well as the Ministry of Defense in general.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu deliberately attributes the non-existent successes in the war against Ukraine to the regular Russian army, without mentioning the participation in the hostilities of the Wagner PMC, which is owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin. This contributes to the further conflict between representatives of the military and political leadership of the Russian Federation.
