Italy is currently finalizing the sixth package of military aid to Ukraine and is discussing its improvement from the point of view transfer of air defense systems to us. This was announced by the head of the Foreign Ministry, Antonio Tajani, in an interview with Corriere della Sera. /span>
“The sixth defense package still needs to be finalized, as it is expected that no information will be sent to the parliament beforehand. We are also discussing with the French the improvement of the package from the technical point of view of sending air defense systems based on common technologies between Rome and Paris,” Tajani noted.
He also added that Italy is constantly negotiating with the US and it is normal.

In December, it was reported that Italy and France agreed to provide Ukraine with the SAMP/T air defense system – Mamba. According to Challenges, the difficulties that prevented it from being done before have already been resolved. It was emphasized that France immediately agreed to help Ukraine by providing this air defense system. Further discussions were initiated by the Italian side.

According to La Repubblica, the USA is asking Italy to accelerate a new aid package to Ukraine, which may include air defense SAMP-T. In particular, as noted in the publication, this was discussed during a telephone conversation between US President Jake Sullivan's assistant and Italian Prime Minister Francesco Talo's diplomatic advisor.
