The United States of America is aware that Ukraine needs to strike targets of the Russian military, which are located further from the zone reach of available weapons. Washington is negotiating with Kyiv on the possibility of meeting this need, US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kahl said during a meeting with journalists in Kyiv, writes “Evropeyska Pravda”.
According to him, the Ukrainian side still expresses interest to the US in receiving ATACMS long-range missiles, which can hit at a distance of up to 270 kilometers. At the same time, Kal believes that Kyiv should focus not so much on specific weapons, but on the very need to hit more distant targets.
“I will not go into details, but I will say: we are aware of this need in the current status, and we are discussing how Ukraine can cope with this challenge. I will not specify what systems it may be, but we will continue the relevant dialogue with Ukrainian colleagues”, – noted the deputy head of the Pentagon.
