Rishi Sunak became the leader of the first round with 88 votes. In second place is Penny Mordont with 67 votes. Rounding out the top three leaders is Liz Truss, who has 50 votes.

Rishi Sunak worked as finance minister in Boris Johnson's government, but resigned on July 5 because he expected from the government “correct, competent and serious work”, and he did not consider Johnson's work to be such.
