Ukraine will take participation in this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Ukraine will take part in the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place on December 11 in Yerevan. As “Suspilne” reports, the start of the national selection and simultaneous acceptance of applications for participation will be announced soon.

Ukraine was represented in Paris by 11-year-old Olena Usenko with the song “Vazhyl”, she took sixth place at the contest.< /p>

For the first time, the Children's Eurovision Song Contest was held in 2003, since then a total of 40 countries have participated in it. Ukraine has been participating in the competition since 2006. In 2012, the representative of our country, Nastya Petryk, won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Sky”. In 2008 and 2013, Ukraine took second place at the competition.

On June 17, the EBU announced that Ukraine will not be able to accept Eurovision 2023. Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of our country, criticized this decision and demanded its revision. Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, also stated that the competition should be held in Ukraine. This country took second place at Eurovision 2022.

On July 25, it became known that Great Britain will be the host country of the contest next year.
