Ukrainian writer died in Brazil Vira Vovk from Boryslav in the Lviv region. Chitomo writes about the death of the 96-year-old writer.
She translated from French, Italian, Romanian, Macedonian, Old Slavic into Ukrainian. Her translation works include the works of such masters of words as Paul Claudel, Pablo Neruda, Federico García Lorca, Rabindranath Tagore, Georg, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, and others.
Vovk was a graduate of the University of Tübingen, one of the oldest educational institutions in Germany, where she studied German studies, Slavic studies and musicology. Later, she graduated from the university in Rio de Janeiro. She also completed an internship at Columbia University (New York) and Munich University. The discipline of her scientific interest in these universities was comparative literature. Has a doctorate in philosophy.
During her lifetime, Vovk created a number of poetry collections, among them – “The Leading Dawn” (1955), “Elegies” (1956), Black Acacias (1961), “Love Letters Princess Veronica” (1967), “Kappa Khresta” (1968), “Meanders” (1979). She is also the author of such prose works as “Seventh Seal”, “Legends”, “Carol on Shchedry Vechir”, “Communication with a burnt butterfly”, “Kaleidoscope”, “Book of Esther”, “Diptych”, “Pilgrim”, others.
