US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that if Russia were allowed to intimidate Ukraine, invade and seize territory without resistance, it would “untie its hands” others who wish to do the same. He said this during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa, Naledi Pandor, as part of a visit during which he will also visit the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, according to Reuters.

“If we allow a big country to bully a smaller one , just to invade it and seize its territory, it will “open the season” not only in Europe, but in the whole world,” Blinken emphasized.

He emphasized that the United States considers it important to confront Russia because its aggression against Ukraine threatens the fundamental principles of the international system.

In turn, Naledi Pandor, whose country abstained from voting at the UN on Russia's invasion of Ukraine and, like other African countries, resisted calls to condemn the aggressor, said , that “no one in South Africa supports the war in Ukraine”.
