Biden on Saturday signed the first major law in nearly 30 years to strengthen security measures in the field of small arms trafficking.
The US president signed a previously congressionally approved law on tightening arms control. The ceremony took place at the White House, according to the AP.
“I was here 30 years ago when this country last passed important gun security laws, and today I am here to pass the most important law in 30 years.” – said Biden.
The law obliges to strengthen the verification of biographical data of buyers of weapons aged 18 to 21, makes it a federal crime to purchase and smuggle small arms through fictitious persons, which requires mandatory registration of arms dealers in federal registry with related obligations.
