Poland will 180 tanks and 48 attack aircraft from South Korea

Poland will soon purchase 180 K2 Black Panther tanks and 48 FA-50 aircraft from South Korea. This was reported by the publication wPolityce, referring to the words of the Minister of Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak.

According to the source, the Polish government has decided to significantly update the armament of its own army against the background of threats posed by Russia on the continent. As part of the modernization of the technical support of the armed forces, an agreement with South Korea is being discussed, which will most likely come into effect next year.

It is assumed that Poland will purchase from the Asian partner 180 Korean K2 Black Panther tanks, equipped with a 120-mm gun and capable of developing a speed of up to 75 km/h. In addition, the agreement approved the purchase of 48 FA-50 light attack aircraft developed by Korea Aerospace Industries together with Lockheed Martin based on T-50 Golden Eagle aircraft.

“We are interested in purchasing three squadrons, i.e. 48 machines. The first copies will be delivered to Poland next year. We are finalizing negotiations on this. In general, this will be a jump in the combat capability of our army,” Blaszczak said.

It is reported that the Korean K2 tanks will cost Poland $2.3 billion. The cost of the aircraft is $2.6 billion. In addition, the contract provides for 670 K9 howitzers, which will cost more than $3 billion.
