There is still no consensus in the Parliament of Ukraine regarding the adoption of the issue of the possibility of holding remote plenary sessions, however, it is likely that the deputies will need to return to consideration of the issue, believes the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk .

“We can raise this issue, but we must realize one thing: if there is a consensus in the hall, then it must be carried out. But unfortunately, I don't see this consensus yet,” he said on the air of the telethon on Sunday.

Personally, Stefanchuk added that he supports the adoption of such an idea at the legislative level.

“We need to go and move forward, and not look back and vote with candles, ballots or something else,” the speaker said.

The draft law proposes to conduct a session of the parliament remotely in the mode of a video conference with the implementation of video recording of the people's deputies who joined to participate in such a meeting. These meetings should be broadcast live on television and radio and on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada.

The document also provided that during the remote meeting, voting would be conducted by raising a hand with the people's deputy indicating the “for” position. “against” or “abstained”. The calculation will be carried out by the head of the accounting commission.

At the same time, such meetings cannot include the issue of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, the early termination of the powers of the President of Ukraine, the issue of peacemaking and related issues, draft acts of the Verkhovna Rada, the need the adoption of which results from the concluded peace agreements.
