The American senator called for an end to cooperation with Saudi Arabia

The Democrat, in particular, said that he would make every effort to stop the supply of weapons to Riyadh.

American senator called for end of cooperation with Saudi Arabia

American senator Bob Menendez called on Washington to suspend all cooperation with Saudi Arabia due to Riyadh's decision to support Russia's war in Ukraine by cutting oil production . He was motivated to do this by the brutal and cynical rocket attack on Ukrainian cities committed by Russian troops in the morning of October 10.

“I am shocked by the wanton escalation of Russia and its attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine, including in Kyiv. I undertake to use all the means at my disposal to accelerate the support of the people of Ukraine and destroy the Russian military machine,” the senator said in a statement published on his page.

In his opinion, it is simply impossible in this conflict play both sides.

“Either you support the rest of the free world in trying to stop a war criminal who wants to wipe an entire country off the map, or you support him,” he warns.

The senator emphasizes that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia chose the latter, making a terrible decision dictated by economic interests.

According to Menendez, the United States should immediately freeze all aspects of cooperation with Saudi Arabia, including arms sales and security cooperation, except those absolutely necessary to protect American personnel and interests.

“As the chairman of the Senate committee on international relations, I will not give the green light to any cooperation with Riyadh until the kingdom reconsiders its position on the war in Ukraine,” the senator emphasizes.
