The Committee on the Organization of State Power recommended that the parliament adopt draft law No. 7654, which will become the basis for the disruption of the competitionon the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, and also simplifies the procedure for his dismissal, the head of the Anti-Corruption Center Vitaliy Shabunin said. Voting in the Council will take place, most likely, tomorrow,” he said

Shabunin reminded that the current law expressly forbids candidates who have worked in the governing bodies of the party for the past two years and/or had contractual relations with it to apply. However, now they want to cancel this norm (it is enough to stop such activities right before applying for the competition), which jeopardizes the priority of the political independence of the future director of the NABU. There will be more shame than during the competition for the head of the SAP,” announced the anti-corruption official.

He emphasized that a high-quality competition for the director of NABU was and remains one of the requirements for the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU and expressed his opinion , that the measure may stop providing financial assistance to Ukraine after the adoption of such a law.

In turn, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak confirmed that they are trying to push the draft law into the agenda of the next session of the Verkhovna Rada at any cost.

“We will not allow the amendment to be carried out immediately “in the first place and as a whole”: we will block it…. In the future, we will also block,” he stated about the presence of opposition to the draft law in the Council.

In his article for ZN.UA “Klochka's draft law on NABU — preparation for the impunity of embezzlement of international aid to Ukraine”

strong>, he reminds that the author of the draft law is Andrii Klochko, a figure in the NABU case, whose 70-year-old mother purchased real estate for UAH 14.5 million and a Tesla car during his time as a deputy. However, the very adoption of such a document creates open risks for the future of Ukraine.

“It is obvious that without the direct instructions of the OP and Andriy Yermak personally, such an initiative would not have been brought even to the committee. According to our information, the monomajority was instructed to vote for the draft law at the next meeting,” Shabunin emphasized.
