The Chairman of the Constitutional Court will be elected only after the appointment of all judges - Acting Chairman Holovatyy

The Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine will be elected after filling all vacancies of judges of the court, Serhiy Holovaty, Acting Chairman of the KSU, said at a press conference on Wednesday.

“We are getting closer to the European Union, when decisions must be made by consensus,” he said at the briefing, answering the question of when the elections for the new head of the court will be held.

Holovaty reminded that now there are five vacancies in the court – there are 13 judges instead of 18, and 10 votes are needed to elect the head of the KSU.

“That's the question. We will wait for the subjects of appointment of judges to fill vacancies. “Every vote is important for the discussion of the chairman's candidacy,” added the acting chairman of the court.

It should be noted that the nine-year term of office of the judge of the Constitutional Court Oleksandr Tupytskyi ended on May 15. Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court Serhiy Holovaty issued an order terminating his employment.
