The Minister of National Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar stated that Ankara continues contacts with the UN, Ukraine and of the Russian Federation regarding the extension of the grain agreement, which expires on March 18. This is reported by Anadolu.

According to Akar, so far 790 ships have passed through the corridor in the Black Sea, which made it possible to send about 23.5 million tons of agricultural products to the world market.

“We continue contacts with the UN, Ukraine and Russia, which are parties to the grain initiative. Kyiv announced that it approves the resumption of the initiative. Moscow also follows a positive agenda on this issue,” said the head of the Turkish Defense Ministry.

He added that Turkey hopes and expects the continuation of the agreement taking into account the contribution of all parties.

“We are continuing work in this direction”, – noted Akar.
