Trump announced his participation in the 2024 presidential campaign

Donald Trump has launched a third “bid for the White House”, launching his intention to participate in the 2024 presidential election just a week after the midterm elections in the country in which his Republican colleagues did not live up to expectations in the election race, writes the Financial Times.

“To make America great and glorious again, tonight I am announcing my candidacy for President of the United States,” Trump told supporters in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

Standing in the resort's gilded ballroom in front of more than a dozen American flags and surrounded by signs bearing his slogan “Make America Great Again,” Trump said, “America's comeback begins right now.”

Just minutes before his speech Trump has submitted documents confirming his candidacy to the Federal Election Commission.

The former president became the first Republican to announce that he will run for president in 2024. He also became the first US president to lose his re-election bid to try again in more than a century.

Trump is in the race despite several of his picks losing in last week's midterm elections. , as well as a growing chorus of GOP voices calling for him to step down.

For more than a year, Trump has made no secret of his desire to run again in 2024, repeating his baseless claims that the 2020 election was ” falsified” and “stolen” from him. But Trump delayed the official campaign launch until Tuesday, in part at the urging of advisers and Republicans who did not want him to overshadow the midterm elections.
